"Coastal Scene I"
Charles’ work is characteristic by his composition from his preference to seek out secluded and rarely discovered scenes and perspectives. His desire to show the viewer a different scene from what would normally be expected from well-known sites used by artists shows diversity and complexity in his detail. Occasionally limiting his colour palette allows him to strip back the scene to it’s bare essentials to expose the form and structures within without losing impact. Quite a difficult thing for any artist to achieve, and yet Charles appears to achieve this effortlessly.
