Carol has been creating her applique 'painting' from her Portland home for a number of years. She is well-known on the island and in the Dorset area for her highly-creative hand-sewn artworks with unique driftwood frames made by her husband Neil. A perfect combination.
We, at Athay Gallery, especially enjoy her use of fabric patterns to create areas of brickwork, waves in the water, and wood effects for boat hulls. They are a wonderful representation of popular scenes from around the Weymouth and Portland coast.
Vibrant colours, clever use of fabric patterns and textures, and querky proportions culminate in lovely playful depictions of these well-known areas. Carol's creations are hand-sewn and really are a labour of love!
